Default Making a Tree Skirt

Since it's officially 13 minutes until Christmas, according to my clock,
I have a Christmas related project brewing in my brain. I would like
to make a tree skirt. I decorate with a very silver/snowflake theme with
touches of blue. So I thought a lovely piece of dark blue or navy velvet
would be great, and on it embroider snowflakes. It would of course have
to glitter. Metallic thread and beads of course must be used. I was just
wondering if you had any suggestions, patterns, ideas, etc. (websites
would be great too) to steer me along as this rolls around in my head.
Thanks.

The stockings are hung and breakfast is in the fridge ready to pop into
the oven tomorrow so it's off to bed for me.

Um, Rache, you don't have enough time in 13 minutes to make a tree skirt.....

Rachel, I don't have any sugestions for the design, but I do have one for the
finishing. I have made four or five skirts, from 8 feet to a miniature
table-top tree skirt and have used this suggestion on all of them. My skirts
are round and have a back opening and center hole for the trunk. I make the
hole large, possible two to three times larger than the directions or trunk of
the tree. Then I stitch a casing around the circular opening with a fabric
that goes with the skirt. I then get a heavy cord, thread it through the
casing and when the skirt is on the tree, tie the cord in a bow (easy to untie)
and hide it under the skirt. This gives extra fullness to the area of the
skirt around the tree and that fullness make the skirt fall nicely over the
tree stand, and the skirt fits the trunk of the tree nicely. Good luck, Boo
