Default Nashville Market

You should all be in for a fun trip to your LNS (if you have one) for market
day/night etc. I was at the Nashville market with a shop owner and boy did
I get in trouble and it hasn't even hit the shop yet!!! It is so easy to
say "Include one of those for me too!" I guess I'll be signign over my
next paycheck!

What was my favorite???? There was a group called Monsterbubbles (yes same
group that did the Lizzie Borden design), but they had others that were
really neat. I like the old tree that says "The strength of a tree is in
it's ability to bend". Also like Johnny Appleseed (brought back good camp
time memories) and "Oh what dangled webs we weave when first we practice to
deceive" (going in the grandson's room :-) ).

Also got four My Favorite Needles! I loved stitching with those and had
worn out my last needle.

Also learned to needle punch-expensive to get into, but looks like a quick
fun thing to do, so what the heck I ordered the needles, charts and hand
dyed wool to make purses on!

I hope you all get a chance to see the new and exciting stuff...I can't wait
for my "other" LNS to put her stuff out!

It's very fun. We have someone local that designs, teaches punch-needle -
and we've done some great little brooches, little purses. The shop owner and
Ellen convinced me a couple of years ago to do the class (when I was working
the shop). It's kind of mindless fun - the big thing - keeping your fabric
absolutely taut, and holding the needles upright.

I've done some on cloth that people use for quilting - some neat hand-dyed
or batik cottons. And you can get the best outline designs from - coloring
books. Also, Just Another Button Company/Sam Sarah Designs do some designs
specifically for punch-needle - sometimes they send them as freebies to the
shops. It's also a great medium for using overdyed floss - that can really
add to the look, depth.

And - one of the best things - nothing frogs faster than punch-needle - zip
- and all the little loops are gone ;^)

Sounds like you had fun!

I had a great time at Nashville, too. I took three classes, all of which
served to confirm my opinion that I am lucky to be writing about a needlework
shopowner rather than trying to *be* one. It's like every class only added
more suggestions for work for the shopowner. Support your local shopowners,
everyone! They work more hours than you know!

I also got a few more ideas for future mysteries featuring Betsy Devonshire.
