Hi Betsy,
Welcome, glad you introduced yourself. Do you have an AC Moore or Michaels near you, as they both carry chenille yarn that's not too bad a price. Hugs, Nora |

No snow here, in southern England, but the weather has turned suddenly chilly, so it could happen. I hope not - it always causes traffic chaos. I hope it won't cause you too much trouble. -- Liz Hanson |

"Liz" wrote in message ... Hi I dipped in briefly, a few days ago, but didn't introduce myself. This group is much too busy for me to read everything (full time lecturer in further education college, UK). My grandmothers taught me to knit and crochet, somewhere between the ages of 5 and 8, so that I used to dress my dolls. Don't do a lot now, but maintain an iterest in handycrafts and look forward to doing more in a few years time. I hope you don't mind if I continue just to dip in and dip out again - I love the friendly atmosphere, and will jump in with an idea or comment when I can. I know you have another Liz, so sorry if it is confusing. I'll try to remember to change my sig to the full name one, but sometimes I don't seem to have full control over this software shrug, or my memory either ;-) -- Liz Hanson LOL, Liz... yes there is another Liz. actually two that come to mind... no problem though, we'll figure out who you are! Jump in when you can.... just know this, once we know you, we tend to WORRY when we don't hear from you! Again, welcome to the best ng on the net... Noreen --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Hello all!
This has shamed me into de-lurking! I knew it would happen sometime, I have so thoroughly enjoyed reading this news group since I discovered you a couple of months ago. I am in my 50s living in Beautiful BC (Canada) with my husband of 35 years. We have three gorgeous grandchildren, a dear daughter-in-law, two year old granddaughter and granddog, unhappily our eldest son died earlier this year. Our younger son and wife have two boys three and 19 months. Anyway, to cut a long story short - I have started knitting again (albeit small things for my grandchildren) some time ago. My mother taught me to knit in the dim distant past, and my mother-in-law helped me with crocheting, but when I discovered counted needlework etc. my knitting enthusiasm disappeared! But, it is coming back now and I am managing to keep busy with knitting, crocheting and needlework!! My main reason for de-lurking is to ask a question which Im sure all you very knowledgable ladies can anwer. While we were away this summer I crocheted some slippers from a Fibre Trends pattern that are meant to be felted - they were easy to do, the directions being very clear. My question is about felting - I don't have a top loading washing machine - mine is a front loader and dosn't have the agitation - will the felting work the same, or can I do it by hand? Thanks in advance. Penny in sunny Tsawwassen "Noreen's Knit*che" wrote in message ... Hello all! I thought I'd just put in my two-cents, and say welcome, AND, if you're lurking... please do come in and play... introduce yourself and have a great time with us. Some of us are 'seasoned' in yarn and thread crafts, but even someone new to a craft CAN and DOES have plenty to contribute, fresh perspectives, etc. Don't be shy, ask questions. Don't be shy, jump in with an opinion or answer! Even someone who's been knitting and crocheting for going on almost 40 years can get stumped, and we (I) aren't afraid to ASK! I've been helped out PLENTY by this group... just ask Mirjam how MANY times she sent me the knit-in-the-round mobius instructions. Ask Sonya how many times she picked up needles and tried a pattern that didn't look right to me, and sometimes she GOT the same results, and sometimes she figured out that I actually did it wrong! Ask Helen how she put a machine-knitting chart into perspective for me by SAYING what the chart didn't! So, we're ALL learning something..... DO come in and play, we really don't bite, we have a grand time... we do get OFF topic a LOT, but that's the diversity and FUN of this group! Penny,
Add a big fluffy towel, some tennis shoes, or tennis balls....but do make sure they are clean first. Darwin P.S.: We are not all female here. I think so, especially if you put the item in the dryer afterward. In experience the greater part of the felting occurs in the dryer. I generally put the item through both machines with several loads of laundry. That does mean waiting until the dryer is done to start the next wash load if you don't have a lot of loads to do, but having one of these in progress really does make wash day a lot more interesting.
