I'm sorry to hear about your dad.
Sympathy and comforting prayers on the way.

6 weeks ago I asked for thoughts/prayers for my dad and all the family were
able to visit him before the end of the summer including one of his cousins
who hadn't seen him for years. On 19th Sept he came home from hospital and
I was working on a coming home quilt for him to use, but was delayed by
needing a new foot control. Unfortunately after a week at home he had to be
readmitted with pneumonia but I was able to drive the 5 hours and spend a
few days visiting him. Sadly that was just one thing too much for him to
cope with and he passed away quietly this morning.

Yesterday I did finish his quilt and, knowing how sick he was, took it to
work today so I could look at it and touch it as it was sewn with my love
for him and I had it with me when my mum & brother phoned with the
inevitable news.

I'm sorry for you. At least you could spend time with him and have a proper
farewell, if there is such a thing. And the quilt is very pretty. I find it
eerie how memories get into quilts. I started my first quilt, a blockhouse
foot rest cover, while I was expecting my second baby, and all the worries I
had for this pregnancy went into it. Then there was the abortion and
although I thought I had come to terms with fate I find that I still can't
finish the thing. In your case it seems that all the love you had for each
other is bundled up in the quilt an comforts you a good deal. I'm sure he
would have appreciated the quilt.

U. - not good with words on such occasions.
