OT another Katrina love story
There are 50 people here from Tennessee, Maryland and Florida repairing the
Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church has taken in the St. Peter's Catholic school students and Burlington, Vermont has sent 30,000 pounds of pumpkins, scarecrows and mums for Moss Point high school's fall festival. I know you see the rubble on your tv news and wanted you to know about the love. Polly |

That is great, Polly. It is nice to hear good stories. Our neighbors down
the street that have a mobile home in Ocean Springs were contacted by FEMA yesterday that they had their claim, and were processing it. They asked them if they could come back to Mississippi this week, so our neighbors left this morning. I hope FEMA has been in touch with your family. Please keep us posted on all developments. The news media has moved on
to the next big story. Those of us so far from the Gulf need to be reminded that this was not the type of event that one sweeps clean in a few weeks. Polly My news actually mentioned "A city in Vermont sent 30,000 pounds of pumpkins so the Moss Point annual Fall Festival could go on as scheduled." There was a little bit more said, but that one line at the end grabbed my attention. There was even a film shot of people taking mums and pumpkins off a truck and putting them in decorative spots. Of course the film bit might have been stock footage and not Moss Point at all, but the story itself was about it. Debra in VA See my quilts at http://community.webshots.com/user/debplayshere |

Wonderful to hear that it hasn't stopped after the tv cameras left.

OT another Katrina love story
Polly,
This Friday my parish will have an annual major fund raiser, a Fish Fry. On Sunday, our Pastor announced that we will share the returns 50/50 with our sister Parish in Moss Point, Mississippi. You will be relieved to know that I did NOT embarrass you by standing up and shouting, "YES!! That is where my good buddy Polly Esther lives!!" I hope we raise LOTS of money to send. I already have two tickets. OT another Katrina love story
Ah, the humilation of it all, how my face would have burned. I'm so glad you
didn't do that. Actually, we don't live in Moss Point. I don't even think we've been through Moss Point in years. For reasons unknown to anybody, Moss Point has a big new post office. All the mail for dozens of small communities and the Swamp is routed through Moss Point. There are post offices much closer to us and there must be some logic to the system. Never mind. You wouldn't understand if I did and could explain. However, Moss Point is bordered on one side by the Pascagoula River, on the other side by the Escatawpa River. If that's not enough water, they also have a large lake. When Katrina surged in, those Moss Point folks really took on some water. I'm sure your sister Parish will be mighty happy you're sharing with them. Polly "Pat in Virginia" wrote in message ... Polly, This Friday my parish will have an annual major fund raiser, a Fish Fry.
