Default Sorry to have been away

Just catching up on the posts after having been away for nearly four months.
This really is a great group, but I had some things to attend to. Lost my
job and my apartment. It's not as horrible as it sounds, my old landlord
decided to retire and sell his place. So, the new owner wants to put up an
apartment building and bought me out of it. I must admit that I do like the
businesslike way Los Angeles regulates renting. My former residence, New
York City, was very difficult.
At any rate, I got moved and my employer downsized my department by 20%. So
if anyone knows of a largish company wanting a Director of Technology
Support Services, or Technical training, etc., let me know.
Quilting News: I'm starting something new and alternating sending out
resumes. I'll talk about it more later. T

I was just wondering about you the other day, and how your King's Highway
blocks were coming. Is that the right one?

Best of luck with the job search!

Thomas, it's a tough time to be out of a job, I hope it turns into an
opportunity. You know that cliché about doors closing and windows opening?
Hope you can work it out quickly. Mardi, you too.

Anyone up for an "unemployed technology professional who wants a new field
of work" group? DH and I will be there in a heartbeat. I have been the
sales manager for a small software company and told my boss months ago that
I'm not really a sales person. He put off thinking about it for a while but
it's come up again and I've decided I really need to move on. He's looking,
I'm looking... Sort of scary out there but I so desperately need to do
something else with myself that I'm ready to risk it.

Hi Thomas:

Good luck on your job search. It isn't a good time to be in the IT
field and be unemployed. I'm a software engineer/programmer and have
been unemployed for almost four months now. I live in Santa Rosa,
California. In the whole time I have been unemployed, there has only
been one job I could actually apply for and I didn't get it.

I think we should start and "unemployed IT professionals" support
group.

On the upside, I sure have been having fun quilting. It's so nice to
be able to have several projects running at the same time and actually
be making progress on them all.
