Tough decission, Suzie,
I've been there before, just a couple of years ago. Climbed the Mayan
pyramids (Chitzen Itza), and all that. Been to St Thomas, Martinique,
Curacao. The owner flew all 175 of us to Bermuda in June for a beach
lunch. (I know, it WAS really nice.) I guess I'm just tired of white
sandy beaches and swaying palm trees, yada yada yada. I think I'm
leaning towards the quilting. Hmmm...

Hi, Sandy,
One of your quilts inspired me to try fancy background quilting. I
think it was called Compass Quilt. I am working on a small quilt that
has some blank blocks in the corner. I decided to try quilting an Oak
leaf in each corner and then stipple around it. Looks pretty good. It's
almost done.

Hi!
It's been a while since I've posted, although I do read the posts on
most days. Currently I am in a bit of a situation. I have a week of
vacation time coming up. The question arose about what to do. (I work
in the travel industry now since the Best Quilt Shop in Boston closed
down a few years ago.)
A friend wants to go to the Yucatan, in Mexico. I was planning on
staying home and quilting. I have 5 UFOs waiting to be completed, as
well as a new bright colored quilt with the new Laurel Burch cat
fabrics cut and ready for stitching.
The trip is free, benefit from work. Quilts are waiting. Am I crazy for
wanting to stay home and quilt, play with the new QI, and just relax,
or go away? Votes, please? (I want to stay home and quilt.)
Thanks,
Dave

Howdy!
So you've already been to "Chicken Pizza."
And other beachin' places. They aren't going to disappear.
Dave, you make the most beautiful quilts. Your passions right
now lie w/ your fabric and quilty stuff; don't let that passion disappear.
It's your vacation, too, so do what *you* really want to do.
Happy Quilting! ;-D

Get thee to Mexico and take along some handwork! Get lots of ideas
full of festive colors. Dream up an award-winning applique quilt
based on Mayan designs...

Then come back a day early and quilt.

Oh well - in *that* case - stay at home and quilt your heart out -
sounds perfect to me!

Just send us the plane tickets and we'll go on your behalf - tough job
but someone has to do it...

The most important thing in a vacation, in my opinion, is
healing/soothing your soul. You slipped in the little phrase "and play
with the new QI". A week of rest, doing something you love, that will
make you feel satisfied and relaxed at the end of the week, and get to
know a new pet ... ?
versus rush to plane, endure airport - heat and fumes, mooch round
somewhere you've been before and which will be there next year? No
contest g
Do what you want, and enjoy.

Wow, Dave -- I can't believe that one of my quilts inspired *you*! Your
stuff is so outstanding that I'm really amazed every time I see it. I
can't wait to see this one when you finish it. Please keep me posted.
