Sliding bead gauges?
Does anyone here use a sliding bead guage to measure their beads? I
still have a lot of trouble telling one size bead from another, especially if the beads are only a mm apart. I can definately tell the differences in sizes if I have all the beads together, but by looking at them seperately I can't tell the size, except for the 4mm beads. Are the sliding gauges hard to use? they are pretty easy to use.
If you have a "Harbor Freight" store near you you can get a brass micrometer for about $2. They have both mm and inches. Armand |

Hmm...there's 2 in S. FL...neither one is really close to me. One isn't
too far from where I used to live in S. Miami, but where I'm at now, it's a 45 minute trip down there. The one in Ft. Lauderdale is probably about the same distance. You can also purchase them at any home improvement store.

They're really easy to use. I have one and that's what I use to measure my
beads when I list them for sale. The one I have is brass, and it was relatively inexpensive. Thanks, Sooz! I took Lori up on her offer, though. BTW, I don't
think I've ever seen a bead size chart..except for one in my bead book, but that one's not very easy to use, because all it shows is an outline of a bead along with the size. You just hold the bead up to the chart. ~~ Sooz ------- "Those in the cheaper seats clap. The rest of you rattle your jewelry."
