Default Happy Dancing!

Please join me in a happy dance! After 20 years with my current employer, I
am announcing my retirement! I hesitated to say anything about it - I guess
I was afraid something would happen and I'd chicken out, but Friday is my
last day and I'm so excited, I can hardly sit still. The last year or so has
been pretty stressful - I've had to do a lot of evening and weekend work as
the number of employees decreased and my workload increased. I enjoy the
work, but it's time to move on before I totally burn out.

My quilting (to keep this On Topic) has taken a back seat to work for too
long now, and I'm ready for it to play a major role again. I'm looking
forward to spending lots of hours with both my DSM and my longarm -
hopefully I'll have some finished projects to share before long!

Woo hoo!!!!!

Congratulations, Louise! I hope you enjoy your retirement at least as
much as I do mine.

You know Louise, the best thing I found about retirement. I wake very
early and make some coffee, put my robe and slippers on then go sit on
my screened back porch to watch the world wake up.

When's the last time you watched a sunrise.

I'm hoping so, KJ. I told DH I was going to take a couple of weeks to just
decompress and try to get my shoulders to untighten! Then I might start
acting like a civil human being again. Oh, I've got so much to do. I haven't
done a thing with the fabric or little flower kits I bought on our last
outing! And I haven't been to Kalona in so long, I don't know if I can find
my way there again! You may have to drive!

WONDERFUL! I've been saying for years that retirement is what I was
meant to do with my life! I like it much better than anything else
I've ever done.

Sit back a little and take time for you. Its so easy when you first
retire to get 'sucked' into commitments and end up over-whelmed. There
seems so much time and new commitments seem small in comparison but they
can easily take over your life and become just as time-consuming as a
full time job and the fun side gets lost.
