Default Introduction

Hi,

as I've been lurking since the beginning of the year, I think it is time
to introduce (or reintroduce) myself.

My name is Uschi, I am 44, single, work as a secretary and live in
Vienna, Austria (Europe). I used to be here years ago, I think I droped
out sometime in 2000. Life got in the way of things and since the
beginning of 2003 I've been working on changing things (mostly my
outlook, reactions, feelings...) and I started quilting again around
christmas time. I've been busy since then trying to finish wips and also
coping with my creative energy.

I read about stashbusters here and joined there too. That got me going
even more and I finished two tops from scraps without making too much of
a dent in my supply.....

Besides quilting I love to cook (and eat) but still managed to drop 21
kg (42 pounds?) last year - yeah!! I loooove chocolate but only indulge
on my birthday, christmas, easter.... I am so happy about regaining my
weight that it is not really hard to abstain. I am a fair weather
runner, and am waiting right now for the weather to get fine enough (for
me) to get out my running shoes again.

No QIs as I am 'blessed' with an abundance of allergies, but I love to
read about yours and see pictures of them.

You can check out some of my quilts at

http://community.webshots.com/user/quilterin101

While I love to make blocks for hugs, mailing costs to the US are rather
steep and the few I've sent this year did not seem to have arrived in
the US. Seems that 'squishy' envelopes to not get through though I mark
them 'quilt block'. Or there is someone out there collecting blocks :-).

Enough about me, I'd better get off to the kitchen. I've invited my mum
for lunch. We returned from a trip to turkey on tuesday and want to show
off our photos and reminicent.

Hi Uschi welcome back to the group.

If you want to join a hug just mark the envelope as "fabric scraps" - it is
truthful... if you ignore the seams the bits left over *are* scraps. Quilt
blocks and quilts seem to disappear in the mail as there are some people who
collect them :-(

Your quilts are wonderful!! and you are doing the RCTQ BOM too!! Cool!!!

Your quilts are delightful!! I love the fabric choices for the RCTQ BOM.
Glad to see you here. I ship a lot to Europe and so far haven't had any
problem. I am so sorry you have had so many problems shipping to the US.

Welcome from Munich, Uschi! Your quilts are wonderful. I especially like
Martin's Quilt -a design that's been languishing in my idea pile for way too
long. What size 9-patches did you use?

Welcome Uschi
You have some beautiful quilts there. I will have to go back another
day and have a bit more of a drool.
I have spent several happy holidays in Austria - it is by far my
favourite European country for visiting. Loving Mozart helps, I
suppose!

What a pity about the mail to the US from you. Very discouraging, but
lovely that you tried your best.

Hope we'll see you around from now on. It's been good to meet you.

Welcome (back) Uschi! I pop up for the occasional comment, offer of prayers
and read avidly all the suggestions and tips though for the past few weeks
my sewing has drifted toward bag-making. Thinking ahead to the holdays so I
don't end up in October trying to get everything done! Have a seat at the
cyber-frame and we'll talk!

Thank you for your wellcome, Jessamy. I'll try that when I send the next
block. And not eating chocolate is quite easy when I look at old photos
of myself ;-)
