Kim: There have been some fun tessellated fish quilts, but I don't know the source off hand. A fish quilt with a wide variety of bright fabric can be quite striking. Here is one with basic fish block. I'd want to tweak it ... add some coral, seaweed, etc. NAYY. http://quilting.about.com/library/bl_fish.htm PAT in VA/USA KI Graham wrote: Always ignored them before, 'cause "Why on earth would you make a fish quilt?" My very first full-sized quilt was a stack-n-whack with some neon
colored fish on a black background. I fussy-cut fish from the print for the sashing and borders so you could tell there were fish in the stack-n-whack blocks. Then I gave the quilt to my marine biologist niece for a wedding gift. She loves it. Annie |

I just completed 2 fish quilts for our 2 granddaughters. They are 1yr
and 2 1/2 yrs. old. They will be sharing a room with an underwater theme. I made sure I used some of the same fabric in both but used different patterns. They are not twins and I wanted them to have individual looking quilts but complement each other. Kathleen in TX |

Kim, I have a "fishy" quilt block pattern, a "fishy" applique pattern,
a "fishy" quilt/stitching pattern and a couple of fish quilt patterns/instructions. If you think you might like to see any of these, drop me an email off list and I'll scan and send to you. Tina |

Thanks for all the help, folks. I've certainly got a good start on
this....knew you'd give me some great leads. [Now I just have to figure out how I want to put them together in a quilt.] My goal for this fall is to make SIMPLE quilts...I do tend to get carried away, and a quilt for a 10-year-old is not the place for fancy! -- Kim Graham http://members.shaw.ca/kigraham Nanaimo, BC, Canada THE WORD IN PATCHWORK |
