Default Question about the International Amber Association?

On this website that sells Amber jewelry.. it says they are "certified"
Members of the International Amber Association. does this mean that
they, by LAW, have to sell only genuine amber and prove its real from
where they get it from? or can they easily get through by selling fakes
and not get into trouble. does this mean they are overlooked to make
sure they're selling real stuff?

how does this kind of thing work anyway? are these really legit and do
they really mean anything, or just some simple association to be apart
of, and nothing that impressive?

heres more information from their site:

"Andzia receives her Certificate of Recommendation from the
International Amber Association from Association President, Mariuscz
Gliwinscy at Amberif 2002."

different depending upon what he or she has consumed during its
10 to 14 months of life...

4 well chosen cutlets (from the breasts of 2 healthy neonates)
2 large lemons (fresh lemons always, if possible)
Olive oil
Green onions
Salt
pepper
cornstarch
neonate stock (chicken, or turkey stock is fine)
garlic
parsley
fresh cracked black pepper

Season and sauté the cutlets in olive oil till golden brown, remove.
Add the garlic and onions and cook down a bit.
Add some lemon juice and some zest, then de-glaze with stock.
Add a little cornstarch (dissolved in cold water) to the sauce.
You are just about there, Pour the sauce over the cutlets,
top with parsley, lemon slices and cracked pepper.
Serve with spinach salad, macaroni and cheese (homemade) and iced tea...

Spaghetti with Real Italian Meatballs

If you don?t have an expendable bambino on hand,
you can use a pound of ground pork instead.
The secret to great meatballs, is to use very lean meat.

1 lb. ground flesh; human or pork

mixture into the baby?s flesh.
Place 1 quart water in a baking pan, the meat on a wire rack.
Bake uncovered in 250° oven for 1˝ hours.
When browned, remove and glaze,
return to oven and bake 20 minutes more to form a glaze.
Cut ribs into individual pieces and serve with extra sauce.

Fresh Sausage

If it becomes necessary to hide the fact that you are eating
human babies, this is the perfect solution.
But if you are still paranoid, you can substitute pork butt.

5 lb. lean chuck roast
3 lb. prime baby butt
2 tablespoons each:
salt
black, white and cayenne peppers
celery salt
garlic powder
parsley flakes
brown sugar
1 teaspoon sage
2 onions
6 cloves garlic
bunch green onions, chopped

Cut the children?s butts and the beef roast into pieces
that will fit in the grinder.
Run the meat through using a 3/16 grinding plate.
Add garlic, onions and seasoning then mix well.
Add just enough water for a smooth consistency, then mix again.
Form the sausage mixture into patties or stuff into natural casings.

Stillborn Stew

By definition, this meat cannot be had altogether fresh,
but have the lifeless unfortunate available immediately after delivery,
or use high quality beef or pork roasts (it is cheaper and better to
cut up a whole roast than to buy stew meat).

Dear Spazzy-

We at Amberjewelry.com sell certified amber. We have been members of
the Amber Association for years, and companies who get the certificate
we have- only us and one other company (wholesale only) in the entire
United States, have to be vetted by the board, voted on, provide
letters of recommendation from board members, etc.

If you would take the time to read the text of the certificate which is
posted online, you will see exactly what is meant by this. It means we
purchase amber jewelry only from certified companies that undergo
rigorous testing & adhere to International Amber Association standards,
period. Nor do we sell "ambroid" or pressed amber.

What "law" do you mean-some kind of amber police? If there is such a
thing, the Amber Association is it.

We do not "easily get through by selling fakes and not get into
trouble" & I can't say I appreciate the innuendo.

You will find many companies who make up little "this is genuine amber"
pieces of paper, however, we are not one of them.

You should take the time to acquaint yourself about the International
Amber Association, it is an interesting organization composed of
scientists, producers, designers, etc. and it took us a very long time
to EARN this certification.

Cordially, Holly

Please READ the page you are questioning.

What is the International Amber Association?
The International Amber Association, formerly known as the Amber
Association in Poland, is a group which gathers the expertise of
producers, tradesmen, merchants, artists & scientists from all over the
world. The Certificate granted by the Association guarantees producers
use only natural raw amber, properly processed to obtain the highest
quality final product, free of artificial pressed amber.

Unfortunately, the rising prices & popularity of amber goods stimulate
the production of false amber, which is continuously improved &
manufactured in ever-increasing quantities. Only infrared spectroscopy
is a reliable indicator of amber authenticity.

The Stowarzyszenie Burszytynnikow w Polsce (International Amber
Association) grants such certificates to companies of unblemished
reputation, additionally covering their production with expert
supervision.

Andzia's Amber is thrilled to announce that at this writing (November
2004), we are the only retail/wholesale outlet in the United States to
become full certified members.
