It's not spam. May not BE gems or jewelry, but LOOKS like it. So on topic.

Ya want spam?

Here's a message subject header that arrived for the group today.

"Subject: % Mesothemlioma Girl 15 Strip Tease"

THAT's spam. (Or at least, I assume so. I didn't bother checking out the
supplied URL to be sure, before rejecting it...)

Yeah, that's spam, but really man, some guy posting a link to his
sculpture website disguised as a post asking a question ain't hardly
the same as an ad for porn, but it's still an ad.

You'd be right, if that were the situation. But it isn't (and I'm not that
naive to be so easily fooled, at least not most of the time).

Look again.

The poster was our regular contributor, and like you, on occasion, volunteer
temp moderator, Mike Stevens (MBStevens).

The link was to the Little John art gallery site, specifically showing the work
of John Torreano. Mr. Stevens is not related to Mr. Torreano in any apparent
way, so the situation you describe does not exist. Given the nature of the work
shown, it seems obvious to me that the point of the post was to comment on the
mimicry of gemstone shapes in that form. And, though apparently lost on a
number of readers, the question asked was rather obviously not a literal,
serious one.

Like I said, it's not spam, nor is it an advertisement. Just a link to a site
Mike felt humorous or otherwise worthy of a brief post. I agreed, though I'll
also admit that links to sculpture are not really on topic. The "gemstone"
shapes made it barely enough so, for me to allow it as a link of passing
interest to those who work with real gems.

I stand corrected.
