Japanese straw tying/packaging
I saw a photograph in a book titled, "How to Wrap Five More Eggs,"
(which shows many ways of packaging and displaying products in boxes, wrappings, weavings of straw and rice stems, etc.) that showed four or five squares of tofu hung on a woven or tied length of straw, knotted at the top to hang. The page opposite showed "kaga mochi" squares hung similarly with rice stems in a beautiful design, also. Does anyone know of a source to find instructions for tying/weaving those hanging straw devices? They'd look really great holding tiles, or wood blocks or thick paper with designs on them. Thanks for any pointers. The book is full of gorgeous black and white photographs of other forms of packaging that could inspire many other artistic ideas. The first book, "How to Wrap Five Eggs," is harder to find, and very expensive to buy used (like $300+), but some libraries still carry it. I hope to borrow a copy through a library loan program to see it's photographs, also. Dana |
