Default problems posting to this list

does anyone else have a problem with reading the individual messages on
this list, or any other on google for that matter, in that the ads
overlap the messages and not only cause the message to be hard to read,
but when writing a reply and one clicks on "submit", sometimes one
inadvertantly clicks on an ad link and the reply is erased and one is
taken to a craft site or some such.

*in this message, I used 'one', as opposed to 'I' or 'you', since 'you'
would be the conversational way of saying the sentence, but 'I' was the
one to experience the problem. LOL

thanks for any help, Kitty

Hi Kitty,

This isn't a "list", although there are some sewing related e-mail lists I
subscribe to.

"This" is Usenet, see:
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/what-is/part1/
You don't have to use Google Groups to read or post to Usenet, and there are
probably others here who can offer alternate suggestions.
There are services such as Giganews, http://www.giganews.com/
and Supernews http://www.supernews.com/
and there may be others which are free.

Google Groups *used* to be a very useful tool, but after they went public
they couldn't leave well enough alone. :-(

No, because I read it using Outlook Express and there are no ads.

How do you read email? Is there a newsreader in the same program?

Another commercial news provider is NewsGuy at
http://www.newsguy.com/; my ISP sometimes provides news, but always
does it very poorly. Google has become so bad that I wouldn't consider
them even as a last resort.

Individual.net has become one of the largest Usenet providers for text
groups, and they are free. Kitty, you can go to
http://www.individual.net/ for information on how to sign up for their
free Usenet service.
