I would prefer free but am willing to buy. I want something similar to
this shawl at Banana Republic:

Yes, but with no luck

I took a screen shot since the site wasn't working right and uploaded a
picture so everyone can see it.

That appears to be a simple piece of fisherman knit in a rectangle,
with a couple of closures added. Why not just design your own?

That pattern is very cute with a lot of design detail. Of course, there is
the index for patterns at Knitting Pattern Central:

BUT, with that much design, maybe you'll find something closer at a place
like DROPS. It takes a minute to understand how the flags work to open the
patterns instead of the pics, here's the link:

I am a novice and far from being able ot design one. I was thinking of
expanding a scarf pattern, but I don't know hwo to do the closures.
