OT - British definition please

Ok - I've seen the phrase "Sloan Ranger" (referring to a woman) twice
recently in British books and on the show What not to Wear!
Would some one please give a working definition of a Sloan Ranger, please.

My mental image is what I called a preppie back in the late 70's to early
80's. A woman that went to prep school, with money, and a certain style of
clothing.

That's pretty much it. They are named after Sloan Square...their natural
habitat Think Diana before she married.....she was a Sloan Ranger. I
think she even lived near Sloan Square (if I remember correctly. I have
been past the building but my memory ain't what it used to be G)

Very upper class and elegant young ladies who shop at the top shops in the
West Endof London - i.e. in sloane Street. Princess Diana is a typical
example.
