Default new machine

(Sniff) I'm so proud! DD1 finally bought her first sewing machine. A
used one, since she's on a tight budget. Like everybody here, I
advised her to look for a good old Singer, and she found a 401a with
all the accessories, in a nice cabinet, for only $150!

Of course I would have just given her one of mine, but we don't live
on the same side of the ocean. Can't wait to go visit.

Congratulations, that is a very good selection for your DD1. The 401
is a joy to sew on, and will grow with her as her as she gains
confidence and skills....she will just love it -- I should know, I
have two

401's and 500 are a couple models I look for to give to the gals learning
to sew. They are wonderful machines. I hope you dd gets a lot of joy
from sewing on that machine.

Me too. What Taria said. That was my own first machine. I traded it in
and Greatly regretted its absence. As soon as I could, I found another for
backup.
It is just wonderful that your DD heeded your advice and didn't get a
piece of headaches and misery by buying a new cheap bit of junk. Polly

I brought up my DDs to annoy salespeople by always looking at the
inside of anything they think of buying. I think she fell for the
cabinet -she loves furniture from the 1950s.
