Not if you cut your strips on the bias.

The ultimate inspiration is the deadline!

The problem with this method would be that all the outside edges of
the HST units will be bias edges. Are you sure you want to do that?

Did you try this? Did it work? We need to know :-)

The standard "strip" method for HST is to cut BIAS strips. Sew them all
together very carefully to avoid stretching, so you have a single pieced
"rectangle" (the edges will be slanted of course = parallelogram). Use a
bias square ruler (or some other square template) to cut squares, matching
the bias line to your sewn line. Start cutting in the middle of the piece.
When you have cut enough squares to make it separate in 2, sew the old bias
edges together to make a new whole piece.

To find out how wide to cut the bias strips, measure half the length of the
bias line (diagonal) of the finished square, plus about 3/4" for seam
allowances. (Round up to the next convenient cutting width.)

When making HST, can you do it by sewing the 2 strips together, seam down
both sides.....then using your ruler cut on the 45 degree angle, flip

ruler,
cut 45 degree again, all the way on your strip??

If you needed 2" hst block would you cut your strips 2 1/4"?
Thanks

Ann
