Default Handkerchief Quilts

That is the name of the book written by Sharon L. Newman. On page 17
it starts with the quilt with actual handkerchiefs. When I made the
one for Granddaughter Abigail I made the handkerchiefs myself using my
Janome embroidery capability. I wanted the quilt fairly sturdy as
she was nine or ten at the time. The Floral Fantasy on page 18 is
particularly beautiful.

Howdy!
As Babe Ruth always said,
"The search engine is your friend!"

Sharon L Newman produced a book called
....get this-- you'll never believe it! -- g
"Handkerchief Quilts." 1992
(pubisher: American School of Needlework)

I've seen it at the local library, which isn't a great
resource for quilt books in this city, so maybe you
can find it locally, too.
Good luck!

if you don't make the kerchiefs yourself, where could you find lace ones?

If you live in IOWA the Amana Colonies has beautiful ones at that
Linen shop off the main drag. The reconstruction must to finished by
now so it makes a lovely trip. Hope to be up to a trip there and to
Jasper County and Pella in time to see the Tulips.

Beg pardon, Patti; you aren't supposed to feel like that.
Here in RCTQ where the words in the subject line often
don't match the message VBG, it's a bit unusual to read
them when they do match up.

So, Patti, about those hankies: gonna' make a quilt?
Got pictures of the hankies?
I have received old hankies from 2 sources, one group
from a box of "junk" given away by a son who was clearing
"Mama's junk" from his storage room, the other collection from
former RCTQer BigBearLady/Phyllis. Such a variety
of hankies, from very plain to so fancy there's no way a lady
would dab away a tear, much less delicately blow her sniffly
little pert nose. Someday, some plan will arise and
the hankies will float to the top of my MUST DO THIS NOW list.
Someday. ;-D

Cheers!

Yep, the construction at Main Amana is finished and quite nice. I haven't
been to the Linen shop in years! Guess I should stray farther than the
quilt shop when I go there. Hummmmm.
