Advice required on gold hallmarks
I need a bit of advice on a gold ring (assuming its gold) that I want to
sell and the hallmarks stamped on it. None of the jewellers I've visited recognise them, but as I know it was probably bought in New York by an ex-girlfriend, I was wondering if that might be where it came from. Does anyone know where I might be able to look up the marks, then I know what = to ask when I finally sell it. Its a very narrow ring, about 1mm in width, very light, about half a = gram, with a pattern that looks like raised crosses around it. Can anyone help here? -- Rob Overfield "Seasons don't fear the reaper, Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain.." |

Whoever buys gold jewelry would probably not settle for the hallmark only and would like to see some more evidence. In your particullar case, I am not sure you are going to find a gold hallmark on your ring at all. In my country (Israel), law requires jewelry items above 2 grams to be hallmarked and stamped with the designer/manufacturer name/logo. Also, the 0.5 gram ring you have contains small amount of gold and unless you sell it to someone who loves the design, its value is very low. Does it worth the trouble? Good luck, Sarit. http://sarit-jewelry.com |
