Default Snowbound - let's quilt!

Well, I got up this morning to let out my Westie pups who measure 15". I
opened the door to the deck to 16" of snow! Plus they are white pups!
Well, I did the only smart thing to do in a case like this - I woke up my DH
to shovel the deck!

So, we have about 16" on the ground and the snow is still coming down. They
are predicting 18" before all is said and done. So far, I reorganized two
closets and cleaned out my linen closet (I'm really anal when it comes to
how my towels are folded and arranged) and organized our knitting yarns and
books (DD wants to learn to knit). Today, I want to finish putting away the
Christmas decorations (hubby resists taking everything down too early in
January) and then maybe, perhaps, I can cut the fabric for my DGS next
quilt!

How much snow is on the ground where you are and how cold (hot) is it?

Lumberton, NJ 16" 17 degrees.

So far it's 17" here in Bedford Massachusetts. DH is blowing snow. It's
as deep as the discharge chute of the blower!
The black labs are easy to find. They're doing their best gazelle
imitations, travelling in leaps and bounds.
I'll be working on my pink and black Wyoming star and, as soon as I get
the dining room table clear, start quilting a denim log cabin backed
with Malden Mills fleece.

Oh, it's 8.6 degrees, positively balmy!

We have about the same in Scarsdale - although we've had some drifting so
it's hard to tell. My DH has just gone out to snowblow (he does us and most
of the neighbors'). Then we have to go to my parent's - I'll bring them
their dinner and DH will cart the blower over to dig them out. After that
we'll hit Church and - when I get home - I need to pick out my next quilt
pattern and, hopefully, will have some time to play with the new treadle.
I'm still trying to figure out how to thread the thing! All in all, a snow
day is a glorious thing!!

BTW, my black cocker pup shows up much better in the snow than your Westies.
Of course at night....

I am north of Pittsburgh near the Ohio line.We got a total of about 5" and
it is 4 degrees out, the wind chill is -14 degrees. You have more snow but
we are freezing. We can't even go out to enjoy the snow. Let me change that,
they can't go out and enjoy the snow. I never did like the snow. I am 48 and
have lived here all my life and hate winter. We laugh around here, we say
people born here stay here and if they do leave for some strange reason they
come back. The weather always stinks here all year round. Bundle up and
quilt, should get a lot done.

Sounds like DD is just a "tad" bit frozen. She moved out there and gave up
our 70 degree whether that we are having today! Only time I lived in snow
was about 16 years ago when I lived in Albuquerque and it did not last
there. The one day we had a ton of snow (my now ex had to get a ride to work
with another doc since we had no cars with 4 wheel drive) it melted by noon.

As of 7:30 am, we are now getting the same weather system as those in
the eastern USA. The weather forecast calls for between 12 to 18
inches of snow and current temperature is 10 degrees F. and is
starting to warm up as the storm gets closer. It is snowing now,
heavily. I am in eastern Canada - Nova Scotia. This is the third
(yes, third) major snowstorm within a week. I keep sending 'snow'
pictures to my BIL and his wife, currently spending some time in
Miami, in case they forget what it looks like . My activities for
today are to keep the bird feeder filled and to work on the wall
hanging I've got on the go.

We have 16" so far, but it is still snowing and blowing around like
crazy. Got some beautiful nighttime shots of the snow last night.

We lost power for a little while, but thankfully it is back. I don't
know why we lost it, since we have underground wiring, but it is a
scary thought that you can be stuck in the house with no heat.

Alice, here across the river in Bucks County we have about 18 inches, and it
seems to have finally stopped. DH is out with the snow blower doing the
driveway, a path to the wood shed, and a path for the dog to use for her
business. She's about 18" at the shoulder. Last night it was just up to
her belly.

We tried opening the back door of the garage to fetch more wood for the
stove, but the snow was so deep, I could only push it about 5".

I just started taking the tree down last night, while DGS#1 is @ his dad's
for the weekend. I hope Justin can get him back here today.
