Converting pattern sizes
Hi...
I've tried doing a search in the archives to see if this question has been addressed before, but I didn't have much luck. So I probably was using the wrong keywords. Anyway, I'm wondering if there is an easy way to convert an adult sized crochet (or knit) pattern to a child's size? I'm wanting to make a sweater vest for my son, but the free patterns I've been finding online aren't really what I'm looking for, as far as kids' patterns go. Thanks! ....Lori |

Measure the kid, make your swatch, figure gauge and start knitting.

The only easy way I can think of is to find a pattern designed for Bulky yarn and do it in thin yarn. Swatch first to find out how much smaller it will be, in worsted weight, fingering, sock yarn, or laceweight. Otherwise, it's time to get creative and remake the design yourself. A lot depends on how big the child is; sometimes the "petite" size is pretty small. =Tamar |
