Default How to knit seeds in watermelon hat

HI, All,
I've just knitted the cute watermelon hat that's been around for a
while. I came across a site where someone is selling fruit hats and in
her description of the watermelon hat, she says that the seeds are
knitted into the pattern. Since the seeds are scattered, I'm wondering
how this can be done. Does the knitter have to carry the alternate
color continuously? This seems like a waste of yarn. Here's the link
to the site so you can see what I mean:

Thanks!
Myrna

You can use a very short length of yarn for each seed and just
tie the ends together in the back or weave them in if you
prefer to, and strand the main color for those stitches.
