I just saw this. Yes, I've been behind in my reading and have mostly
been reading the newest threads (quicker to download for me).

Anyway, Mirjam, my son and I are getting complimentary tattoos when he
turns 18 in 6 months. Still not a family heirloom, but I think it will
be a very meaningful (and long term!) right of passage for both of us.
Oddly, this is my second son, but that's the way life goes sometimes -
oddly.

I noticed this in passing - I got my first tattoo when I turned 50 after my
divorce. I wish I had *never* done it.

I'm not a tattoo fan myself, but have seen one that was actually
useful. My late father had his blood type on one shoulder. IIRC, he
got that when in the Navy in Vietnam.
