pout: can't do any stitching well today
Because my dear QI kitty Mir accidentally bit the h**l out of my left
index finger (right through the first joint) and it is infected and swollen like a sausage. I've got ten days of antibiotics thanks to that little furball. (I've been researching the joint problems, meningitis, tendinitis, hospitalization, nasty etc. one can get from a feline bite--ick!) Man, there is nothing like a cat bite puncture wound for festering in a hurry no matter how you clean it. I wonder what kind of damage she could have done if she'd been trying? Oh, well. I will just have to think about fabric and designs... Mmm... Fabric... Monique in TX |

oh dear. I can identify. I was planning on getting a whole pile of sewing
done this week but those plans were ruined by 1- me snipping the heck out of one finger on my left hand when I angrily snipped at a seam that wasn't working (and my finger got in the way), 2- a *nasty* paper cut on my index finger of my left hand underneath my nail just at the very tip of where the nail bed ends and the finger begins (I was sliding my finger through an envelope slit to open it and the letter inside got my finger) and then I bent my nails back on my middle finger of my right hand and my ring finger of my left hand. It's only the tips of the fingers that hurt but man, do they hurt! clutzy Marijke in freezing Montreal "Monique Reed" wrote in message ... Ouch!!! Those furry felines can be such a nuisance sometimes but we would
sure miss out on a lot of entertainment if we didn't have them. While you're researching, check out this website. It has a bit of history about cat-scratch fever. I found it sort of interesting. http://www.drgreene.com/21_821.html Good luck and hope you get better real soon. Mika http://community.webshots.com/user/mikasdrms "Monique Reed" wrote in message ... I hate antibiotics - they always upset my insides! At least I'm not allergic to them! -- Kate XXXXXX Lady Catherine, Wardrobe Mistress of the Chocolate Buttons http://www.diceyhome.free-online.co.uk Click on Kate's Pages and explore! |

What you get from a cat bite or claw puncture isn't "cat-scratch fever". It
can turn into a really nasty infection of the tissues. My ankle got caught--just ONE puncture--between two of our QIs two years ago and I ended up in the hospital for three days and an additional five days at home on IV antibiotics before it was cleared up. Betty in CT |

Ouch!
Yes, their bites are dreadful, unfortunately. She'd be so upset if she understood, though. At least you got the antibiotics quickly. Hope it soon gets better. Can you draw? (designs I mean). .. *winces*
Ouch. Been there, done that. Believe me, when they want to do some damage, they can. I had a young cat bite me several times, once into the joint on my right index finger, years ago when I was working for a veterinarian. Within 10 minutes of getting bitten, it had been scrubbed with iodinated surgical scrub and I had a whopping dose of antibiotics in me and still it swelled and I got the ugly red streaks almost to my elbow. But it healed with no loss of range of motion. Cat bites are nasty. -- Debi (still loves the kitties anyway) Ever stop to think, and forget to start again? "Monique Reed" wrote in message ... Any puncture wounds are nasty, because they have to heal from the inside
out. They usually get infected, no matter how fast you address them. My DS's MIL was bitten her parrot "Louie" (who by the way is a girl) and ended up in the hospital on IV antibiotics from Cellulitis in her hand. She recovered completely and yes she still has Louie. Linda in Tx |
