I need a new decorating plan!
I just finished putting the ornaments on my tree. I want one of those
beautiful grown up trees!!!!! I still have all the little Hallmark ornaments I used to collect after Christmas when the kids were little. Guess what....my kids aren't little. But my tree looks like it! I have Kermit and Miss Piggy, and all the Santa's and Reindeer playing sports from when my kids played sports. I wish there was a package deal for a tree full of "decorator look" ornaments. I don't have the knack of picking them out separately, and I know I'd make some expensive mistakes. Ok enough whining for now. Maybe next year I can figure out how to have an elegant tree....do you suppose my kids will complain when the kiddie ornaments aren't out?? -- Kathyl remove "nospam-" before mchsi http://community.webshots.com/user/kathylquiltz |

Sure, you can buy predecorated trees. I think. At least you can go to
someplace like Michael's and see a tree you like then copy their selections. Your kids may or may not get upset with you leaving their ornies off. Depends on what kind of kids they are. My compromise would be to put up two trees. One fancy schmancy and the other one full of kids love and memorys. a small table size tree for their or your favourite ones of theirs. as to the cost. how bout you buy up big time after this xmas for next year and cut your bill. hell from what i've seen in the usa, they practically pay you to take the excess xmas stuff of their hands after the holiday is over. whatcha'got'to'lose, eh. happy happy!! jeanne -- san-fran at ihug dot co dot nz nzlstar on yahoo msg'r nzlstar on webshots "KJ" wrote... Divide the kiddie ornaments and give them to the kids for their trees.
That's what I did a few years ago. Then I bought gold angels, white snowflakes, and red ribbon for the tree. -- Mary http://community.webshots.com/user/mardor1948 "KJ" wrote in message news:abotd.458448$wV.96855@attbi_s54... I enjoy using my collection of ornaments that I have accumulated over the years. Most of them have some sentimental attachment and many are homemade and it just wouldn't seem right to leave them off. Not even the one my son made in kindergarten or the angel my daughter made from a clothespin, a "Kleenex", and a pipe cleaner in Sunday School when she was three, though I admit those 2 usually go toward the back, next to the wall Julia in MN -- This message has been scanned for viruses by Norton Anti-Virus http://webpages.charter.net/jaccola/ |

I also had many of the "kid's" ornaments. As they grew up each year they'd
get one in their stocking. What I did was, as each moved out, my "gift" to them was a sturdy (one of those plastic tubs made for the purpose about 24 inches, by 18 inches, by 18 inches with the three level "egg carton" separators) container with all their ornaments in it (with the exception of the "Baby's First" which I get to keep). They ended up having lovely trees without all the cheap "I-can't-afford-the-tree-and-gifts-and-fancy-ornaments-too" doo-dads and I bought replacement sets of a dozen or so fancy ones. The unbreakable home-made ones from my kids still go on the bottom of the tree so QI's and DGD can get near. And the kids love their trees because they have all their memories on it. If the kids are still home, pack theirs for giving but let them each pick one or two of their favorites to put on the tree. Nana "KJ" wrote in message news:abotd.458448$wV.96855@attbi_s54... My tree would have looked like yours this year but we are fresh empty nester and when I began putting the tree together my kids came and took all of their ornaments. Now all that is left are Santa's, elephants ,snowmen and iridescent star garland all our ornaments. I did however retire my Hallmark Winnie the Pooh collection. Our kids are 19 and 20 yr olds so roughly 50 ornaments are missing from our tree this year. As I said before empty nesting is great. OHHH I like this plan! I wish I had done that. I have a feeling my kids
would both want the same ornaments. Maybe we can have a drawing each year and each can choose an ornament for their box. I even have some THEY don't like! DH used to buy a cute wooden ornament from a Christmas store when we were first married. The kids never liked those...which is Ok since they are mine! "NanaV" wrote in message ... I have some of those too! (The ones in the back by the wall.) I may start
giving them a choice each year of reserving an ornament for when they have their own trees, then packing it away. The kids are older, but don't yet have homes of their own. Now I just need a decorator to come in and give me a pretty tree! "Julia in MN" wrote in message ... Diana Curtis wrote: Your kids may or may not get upset with you leaving their ornies off.
