hi Neil,
i signed up last week and when i got the link for the 2 free patterns i
found the ginormous size of them would take me 16 to 17 hrs each to download
on dial up. even for those with broadband i'm sure they'd take a fair while.
our broadband here is not as fast as in usa either, of that i'm sure.
how ever did those 'free' ones get soooooooooooooooooo big? maybe they could
be split into smaller sections?
sharon or you did send me an outline drawing of the two patterns but i'm
missing out on all the info that comes with the designs. (
oh well, i shall have to rely on my own devices and technique on these. they
sure are pretty ones. )
good luck with the new venture,

It was actually my partner-n-crime that sent you the email. His name
is Ricky and he is taking care of all the web design and Internet
marketing. I have to say that thanks to him we have been able to reach
and exceed all out pre-launch goals. But that is another subject.

What you are missing out on is the full PDF tutorial that Sharon
produces for her patterns. Yes they are great to have, as im sure
anyone that has purchased patterns or downloaded the ones we have will
attest to. Ricky and I will be authoring a video tutorial on how to
use a download manager for customers like yourself. What it will be
able to do is manage all your downloads so that if there is an
interruption in your connection you will be able to resume right back
where you started. I would have to recommend this especially for
people with dial-up connections. For now you can download the program
at http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm . It is a good program but
can be a bit overwhelming at first. I will give you some basic
instructions right now.

Note: This is a free program that I have used for the past few years.
It is perfectly safe and doesn't contain any malicious programs to be
afraid of.

After FlashGet is installed and you have a link to a video you want to
download. You will need to right click on your mouse and bring up the
menu select the flashget option. That will activate the program and
bring it up. After that you can choose where to save your file.

If you are using FireFox (I highly recommend you do use this browser
any how http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ , again totally free and
safe) you can add a program plugin called "FlashGot" virtually
identical to FlashGet but for Firefox.https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/
firefox/addon/220 again right click choose option "FlashGot Link" and
choose where you want to save the file.

I will have a tutorial video on our YouTube page by the end of next
week to assist you with this.

We do realize that there will be a fair percentage of customers with
dial up access and I will be starting a service shortly after launch
that will address that. But for now we will just have to work
together.

Feel free to email me at natkin(a)gmail com or
sharonschambernetwork(a)gmail com for any help with the downloads.

I hope this helps a bit.

-Neil

P.S.

If you could please help spread the word about our site we would
greatly appreciate it.

I signed up back when the site opened, but I couldn't get
anything to download 'cos the links didn't work.

Maybe it take longer to reach OZ by carrier pigeon
lol. I will keep trying

Hi all,

I too signed up but I don't think I will be downloading either of the two
free patterns - one is 62Mb and the other is 57Mb unless they are fairly
spectacular. I have Adobe V8.1 on my computer and all I wanted was the
pattern not the program. I have broadband as well.

I might have been offended (not really) if she hadn't been mentioned her so
often! I just consider this an extension of the posts that mentioned her
before.

After one of the members here posted her beautiful work done with Sharon at
quilt camp (Sandy, was that you?), I headed to Amazon to buy one of Sharon's
books. The website is just icing on the cake.

I tried to download the patterns as well. I walked away & did some ironing
& when I came back, they still hadn't downloaded, so I have now deleted the
email with the links in them. That is just too ridiculous, IMNSHO. I have
a new computer with DSL connection & there is no way I'm going to tie up my
computer that long to download a pattern that I don't even know what it
looks like.

Just my two cents . . .

Pauline,

I'm with you. I have high speed internet. I'm not going to wait and wait
to see a pattern when I don't even know what it is. Gonna delete the
messge, too!

Now wait a sec ... are these supposed to be PDF files??!! I designed a
100+ magazine for a while and it took nearly 100 300DPI, CMYK images to
top 60 MBs.

Neil, if you don't mind me saying, your PDF files, unless they are
meant strictly for print on a commercial press, shouldn't be more than
say, 10 MBs. Have your guy knock the resolution of the images down to
96-150, tops. It REALLY sounds like he's going over the top
resolution-wise. AND make them strictly RGB (most home printers use RGB
profiles natively, though they print in CMYK).

Bottom line is that no matter how gorgeous the images and patterns are,
no one's going to use them if it takes forever to D/L them. And if no
one uses them, your biz isn't going to go far at all.

In reguards to the size of the pattern.

We are making a change to where you can download the pattern for the
block seperate from the tutorial. I was unaware of this many issues
with downloading it. I am downloading it right now and my projected
time for competiton is 7min 30sec for the whole tutorial. Do you feel
that this is unacceptabel?

Thank you for all your comments and I will do my very best to
accomidate you.

We have just resent out another newsletter with links to just the
pattern. After I update the tutorial and get it to 20MB range i will
upload it to our server and send out a newsletter with a link to it.

I also want to note that we will be changing servers in about two
weeks so that after the sight launches you will be able to download as
fast as your connection will allow.

Thank you again
