Thanks - I finished the hat. It's a good thing the kid has a big head
though.
It was a Debbie Bliss pattern, and I ended up making several changes,
including
doing an I-cord edge.

All of the snow melted very quickly. It hasn't been that cold here.
Fortunately
it has stayed warm enough for all of the water on the sidewalk to
evaporate. My
sister and my niece have both broken their leg from falling on the ice
over the
last couple of years so I've begun to wonder if it is going to be my turn
soon.

I'm envious of the snow. We haven't had snow hear since about 1989 except
for a few minor snow flurries. It did turn cold finally a few days ago,
its
been in the 40es and feels it! I live in the Houston, TX area.

Great crocheting and knitting weather though. I finished 2 6" squares
and am starting on another one which is an experment. I like crocheting
without a pattern.

Dora, your hat project sounds like fun.

Good morning from Calgary! It looks like we're going to have some snow

today. A
good day to hibernate and do some knitting.

I bought some yarn yesterday to make hats for the little nieces and

nephews for
Xmas, and started this morning. I have half an ear flap done for the
first

one.
This first one has to be mailed, so the sooner I get it done the better.

In Labrador today, it is gorgeous! A fairly mild -7°C and sunny. THe ground
is sparkling white, but nothing is falling today, which is a good thing. We
have rehearsal this afternoon, which means that I will be able to knit for
most of the two hours, so I should finish the new baby's hat. All in all, a
good day!

Hope everyone else is having a good SUnday.

It's going to be a gentle 70F here in So Cal SF today. I think I might go LYS
hunting this afternoon.

A quiet day here. Unfortunately our local network at home is having problems
so I am on dial-up. Slow but works ok otherwise.
I just finished a shell out of a soft, furry yarn called Volare that I got from
Elann. It is black. It was a simple pattern and will go under the evening
jacket I received for my birthday from DD. I hate knitting with that kind of
yarn because you really can't see what you are doing but this was pretty simple
and fast. The good thing is that the result is warm and very light. It hardly
seems like I have it on.
I am making a sweater for DH out of cotton yarn as he wanted something not too
warm - I am having some trouble with my right hand while knitting, though, and
it seems to bother me more with that project than others for some reason, so I
think it will take a while for me to finish.
I was pleased that the Volkswagen baby sweater I made for the WEC auction sold
well for a good price.
I know that people can get ready made things for less so was happy to see that
my contributions did sell and most did well.
