Anna Maria, they are beautiful. How big are they;. and could they be used as
coasters?

I used n. 20 thread and they are about 4 inches across. I think that
they are too lacy and "frail" for coasters. Maybe with a thicker thread...

Norma,

If you used the cotton yarn I bet it would make a nice coaster.

Anna Maria, do you know if there is a way of stiffening these, like a starch
or something? With the holidays, these snowflakes would make some awesome
ornaments and window hangers.

I use a sugar starch to do mine, but there are lots of commercial ones out
there too:)

Yes, as Aud wrote, there are different ways.
For the ones in the pic I used potato starch. Well, I wouldnīt recommend
it for this porpouse. It tends to yellowish the snowflakes a little bit
and itīs too weak if you want them to remain pure white.
Many years ago I used diluted glue, but DH forbid me to use that, since
I always made a mess in the kitchen LOL
So I went to commercial starch and buyed a stiffening/ironing starch who
comes in tubes and has to be diluted in lukewarm water. I even didnīt
know the existence of this one, since my ironing well... letīs not talk
about it LOL
I used that on a crocheted fan and it works SUPER! It even tends to make
thing even whiter, so itīs the best used until now (apart maybe diluted
glue LOL).

Hugs,

Anna Maria
