You need to do some reading in the archives, lady, because that's not
what happened at all.

Which is a perfectly valid choice, but it makes me wonder why you then
felt the need to go on and on about how long the project took. You are
one of the reasons it wasn't finished more quickly.

Heavens! All of this carrying on over something that (a) most of the
firefighters of FDNY won't get to see (b) won't really care about one
way or another (c) may even offend a portion of the membership with
differing religious beliefs and (d) would serve a better purpose if
auctioned or raffled off and the proceeds donated to the widows and
orphans fund; those are the people who could really use some help.

Funny thing is, while eating dinner a bit ago, I thought: well we
haven't heard from JV, yet. I'm sure that's coming. What to my surprise!

All of this was discussed at length when the project was first suggested
by Victoria. Many, many at RCTN thought that donations, auction, etc as
you outlined would be a better idea. But others wanted to express their
feelings in a different manner. Different strokes for different folks.
I'm an athiest, but I wouldn't be offended by the meaning of this
angel . . . and after all, that's what this is all about: the meaning
behind the offering.

I'm not aware of any other group from RCTN getting together to stitch
something to raffle off or gathering up donations. If they did, kudos
to them.

Victoria just mentioned that she had stitched something and sent it on
to someone in NY connected with this disaster. I guess that's okay but
our offering is not?

In the end, FDNY may hide this in the basement. Where she ends up is
not the point. What *is* the point is the positive expression of hope
that went into the project. For three years it has thrived despite
repeated negativity. If FDNY wants to auction it off to help widows and
orphans, they have *my* blessings. A gift is a gift, to be used as the
recipient sees fit. I was involved for a different reason. I wanted to
express my grief in a way that I could. Each of us brought our own
reasons to this project. Bless all who saw her through,in whatever
capacity. She's a beauty for many reasons.

At this point, I really do not give a ****. It's only a thing. It
has no meaning to me. Someone asked what to do with the remaining
Needlepaints and floss and I asked it be sent back to me because I
paid for it, prepared all the bobbins and will stitch this angel
eventually.

My mistake -- I realized I have made an erroneous statement when I
just read the post. Perhaps your Lama would enjoy reading ALL of the
posts generated on this topic? But then, I am sure he has more
important things to do with his time.

My Lama is a woman. But, this is not the church so take your
controlling **** with how my Lama sees me and tell it to someone who
buys into your idiocy.

I had it for 8 weeks. It then disappeared last May and surfaced again
recently.

I beg to differ. You need to look up the history pages. Unfortunately,
there are some dates missing, but she has been steadily worked on as
people could get to her. She didn't disappear for 10 months.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Vic, but early on during the planning stages,
wasn't it your intent for the group to get the Angel done in a years
time so that it could be presented to the FDNY on the 9/11 anniversary?
I seem to have this memory in my head of the anniversary drawing near
and the angel wasn't close to finished. You were a bit upset...but
eventually conceded defeat and pretty much just said, "Finish it and get
it there whenever." I tried to google this topic, but it didn't take
long before I remembered that you x no-archive your posts, so it'd be
nearly impossible to find....
I'm just wondering and figured I'd go directly to the source instead of
arguing and bickering with the others.
Oh...and in a couple weeks, I have plans to take my two sons (16 and 12)
to: http://www.kpc-md-tara.org/ I want my children to experience a
little of every religion that I can introduce them to before they make a
decision on one. And well, I want to go see the temple too! ;-)

Not that Tia Mary needs anyone to defend her as she speaks very well for
herself. I guess I'm posting this so those of you who don't know her
personally can know that she is the kindest, most caring friend a person can
have. I just know God sent her into my life so she could help me through my
fire. I couldn't have made it without her love and support. She is
generous, supportive, loving, nurturing and most of all caring. Please
don't judge her by the comments of some posters. No matter what different
paths we may take in life, Tia Mary will always have a place in my heart.

Now on to the angel, holy cow, can ya'll just let all this snarkiness go!
The whole point of this project was and is to honor the New York fire
department. Does it really matter who paid for what and who did what??

This project was special to me because I was lucky enough to stitch her
face. It was the second thing I stitched since my fire. I'm one of the
holdups because I had her a while before I got up enough mental strength to
stitch.

Victoria, I'm the one who sent you the laminated chart and I thought you
knew that because we exchanged several emails. Somehow I lost it and needed
to send you a replacement.

I planned on staying out of this thread because I really don't like this
bickering. In any project there has to be someone who keeps records of the
progress of the project. That person is not always the team leader. All
Tia Mary tried to do was keep track of where the project was and who got it
next, namely to keep us organized. It was never her intention to take over;
but when Victoria abdicated from the project, someone had to take over and
there were no other volunteers. Would ya'll rather have the project just
become a UFO which is what would have happened without someone to keep it
moving?

I would like to see everyone just kiss and make up and move on!!

Janet

The museum idea was merely a suggestion, one which made sense to

The person who asked for someone who knew people in the FDNY was not
you, no, but it WAS someone who did stitch on the darn thing, and
therefore had as much democratic right to ask as you do. If Dianne's
claim that it's all been 100% democratic are to be believed. To this
"outsider" it looks like you, Tia Mary, want to be the leader of the
pack. Hope everybody has voted for this!

Caryn

Caryn, from the very moment this was suggested as a project, she took
control. She is some control freak, an admitted vindictive person.
Wow, how special.

why are you out here spreading lies about Tia Mary?
