Default Hubby Enables S.E.X.!!!

It only took me 20 yrs, but I think I have finally trained Dude a little bit!

Yesterday we were standing in the check-out line at the grocery store, and he
plucks the BH&G Xmas Xstitch magazine off the rack and hands it to me.

My jaw just dropped!

Dude has never, ever done anything to encourage me to stitch! He'll be nice
and stop at LNS for me to run in for a few things, he no longer whines about
the attention my stitching gets, but never before has he actually handed me a
Xst magazine or chart to buy!

You know......it might be that, or it could just be overwhelming fatigue from
three late nights in a row, and driving for hours on end all weekend.

We returned from a week away to discover standing water in the basement (less
than an inch, and on only one side of the level). After spending over an hour
with the wet vac, we found a pinhole leak in a pipe. Probably had started
before we even left, but was so small we didn't notice the water at first. So,
add that to Dude's frame of mind while at the grocery store. g

Not all husbands are alike. I always encourage my wife to go into LNS and I
even join her and help her pick out fabrics to go with the charts. I can
see the final project better than her sometimes. So there are some of us
that support our wifes passions for XStitching. But again that might be
becuase we own a LNS shop together and both work the business together.

Kevin, I married a guy similar to you When we went to Disneyland
DH, the kids, and I took a city bus to Needelpoints Ltd. in Garden
Grove just so I could buy some canvaswork supplies. What an adventure
that was, and my VISA was smoking!

It doesn't matter where we travel to, we find a phone book and check
for the needlework, yarn, or bead shops. May 2003 we cruised to
Alaska and visited a fabulous bead shop in Ketchikan. Our trips to
Victoria always include vists to Satin Moon Quilt Shop, and the two
bead shops nearby. We went to Vancouver in July and shopped at Loving
Stitch, then checked out a couple of quilt shops too.

It's wonderful not having to feel like I'm putting him out by wanting
to visit the shops, instead it's considered a part of our trip or
holiday.

take care, Linda

*chuckles* I must say, I'm a very lucky gal. The evening before my DH
whisked me off to Norway to live, he took me out to a nice dinner and then
he walked me over to the Michael's Crafts nearby...so that he could buy me a
kit to enjoy on the long flight. I ended up with a new kit (that he helped
pick out), a new hoop, a new floss holder thingie, and a new pair of
blunt-tip scissors.

The scary thing is that I was so nervous about the trip that I hadn't even
thought of getting a kit, much less mentioned anything about wanting to get
one. He thought it up all by himself.

I will say, there _are_ advantages to having a DH who's a good bit older
then oneself. They do tend to dote on their 'little ladies'.

Sounds like yours is starting down the slippery slope of Enabling, Caryn!
Yay!

lol

The transformation began when I was able to get all his Xmas presents last year
with my design business profits. Suddenly the stitching was "worthwhile".

Linda, DH and I are leaving next week for a cruise to Alaska. Ketchikan is
one of our stops. Do you remember the name/address of the bead shop? And
the name/addres of the shop in Vancouver - we'll be there a day or two also.
Thank.

Hi Pat,

The shop in Vancouver is Loving Stitch, it's in the Dell Shopping
Center in Surrey. There is also a very neat bead shop in North
Vancouver called Capilano Rock and Gem. If you are into beading they
have some fabulous beads suitable for fringes, but they don't carry
delicas or seed beads.

The bead shop in Ketchikan is called The Bead Shoppe. It's address is
#5 Salmon Landing, and is on the second floor of the building. It's a
bit of a walk from the cruise ship pier, but is definitely worth
visiting. I could have easily spent twice as much as I did Oh,
and there is a quilt shop across from it too!

In Juneau be sure to visit the shops directly across from the cruise
ship pier. I missed watching a beadmaker by a couple of hours I
saw her finished work, but would have loved to watch her make the
gorgeous beads.

Now for Skagway... You should visit The Rushin' Tailor, a neat shop
with needlework and other cool stuff. I bought a gorgeous pattern by
Jon Van Zyle called Coming Home that is an interpretaion of the
Northern Lights. I also visited Changing Tides, another needlework
shop that carries some wonderful Alaskan designs. I bought a design
by Sue Coleman called Dogwood and Hummingbird.

There was a shop that I missed, but was told it was worth visiting. I
can't remember if it was a needlework shop or a quilt shop, but be
sure to ask about it at The Rushin' Tailor, which is on the main
street of Skagway, they will tell you all about it and how to get
there.

Have a wonderful trip!

take care, Linda

Holy crap! I've just had a major hubby enabled S.E.X. episode, too!

I got a huge box in the mail of stash items I'd bought on eBay that my
family had rounded up and sent to me. A few kits, some aida and evenweave,
and a stack of booklets and leaflets and such. We sat on the couch together
and unpacked it...and he spent nearly an hour looking over all the patterns.

A few of the books and leaflets had the usual "if you like this book, then
why not buy these" stuff. He looked up and suggested that maybe I should
pick out a few more booklets, and perhaps more fabric to make some of the
designs.

He's even got it in his mind that maybe he'll try his hand at cross
stitching! I'm so proud! I think I'm going to lay hands on the Jeanette
Crews 'One Nighter' leaflet with all the airplanes on it. He's a jet
fighter technician and really loves planes. I'm so excited to try to really
coax him into cross stiching.

Quite giddy with excitement!
