Any knitters?
I now need an aran knit cardigan pattern for a man . I finally was able to find
the oiled wool today and now can start this xmas present if someone can find me a pattern. Does no one knit any more? No knitting shops or hardly any yarn out there today which really shocked me. |

We have a very nice yarn shop in my hometown. I'm not much of a knitter but
she has some of the most delicious yarns!! "BDS2pds" wrote in message ... I now need an aran knit cardigan pattern for a man . If you are looking for freebies, check www.lionbrand.com (free patterns,
knit, adult). If you want to buy, check www.elann.com, www.knitpicks.com, www.patternworks.com, or try google. Ann "BDS2pds" wrote in message ... I now need an aran knit cardigan pattern for a man . God bless you Ann.
The fisherman's wool made by Lion is what I got and they do have a pattern online but it is for a woman. Can I use that? Ann |

You might try googling the rec.crafts.textiles.yarn group. They know an awful
lot of places to shop. Meanwhile, I came across this one. http://www.knitting-crochet.com/menkni.html Pretty plain, but it's free. I like Vogue knitting. Their site has a good links page. http://www.vogueknitting.com/ I haven't knit very much recently, although I am beginning to think I should start up again. I've been looking at a pattern in alpaca wool for the past 10 years or so, and think I might just do it after I use up some of my yarn scraps. Which requires me to sort my yarns, of course. No knitting shops or hardly any yarn
out there today which really shocked me. I thought you were in the Metro DC area, in which case there are definately some yarn shops. But if patterns are all you are after you can try a library, a google search for "Knitting Patterns + Aran" will definately give you some patterns to look at. Also Knitters Magazine and Vogue Knitting are available in most large chain bookstores. Because arans are classic, you can usually find one or two patterns per issue. I knit, but I do boring stuff- ordinary stocking stitch afghans. I try to use yarn that I find interesting though. Recently, my beloved has picked up the crochet hook again and is raiding my stash. If only I could convince him to shop for his own stash! LOL. Still, it does give me the excuse to expand my own stash. -georg |

I don't know why not! Just use the appropriate chest measurement (be sure to
include ease!) Ann "BDS2pds" wrote in message ... God bless you Ann. The fisherman's wool made by Lion is what I got and they do have a pattern online but it is for a woman. Can I use that? Ann |

Can I use that? Why not? I checked it out, it's not frou-frou. Looks pretty much like a honeycomb, simple cord, corded rib and beaded rib stitches. Very classic aran grouping. Tara And for those wondering what I would consider frou-frou in aran, wasp nest cable, corn stitch cable, multiple intertwined lozenges. Yeh, but those start to verge on lace (without the holes). They really belong on a shawl, not an outerwear sweater. Ann, opinionated about sweater patterns |
