Default Does anyone own the John Flynn Multi-Frame System?

Just popped 'round John Flynn's site to find the quilt backing formula that 'Sally at the Seaside' recommended. I noticed that the multi-frame system has a relatively reasonable price-point and can be used for both hand and MQing. I've never gotten used to MQing anything larger than a placemat with my ancient Elna Quilter's Dream. Just wondering what people thought of the multi-frame system!

I can't say I've used it but it just seems bulky and cumbersome. They show
up used quite often so that might tell us something. If you don't have your
machine
set down into a sewing table, flush with the tabletop go there first. It
makes all the difference in the world. There are several tables that fold
up that are not
too pricey. I converted a big old $10 thrift store singer cabinet for my
Janome 6600. I wouldn't try to quilt with the machine set above the table.
Just too much work.
Will be interested to see if folks like the Flynn. If you check the
archives I bet there has been some previous discussions too.

I that you may have hit upon part of my problem, Taria. My SM sits on a square metal table/desk. My office chair doesn't even fit underneath the desk because of the metal shelving. While I finally purchased an "extended" acrylic table for the Elna, it is still quite painful to quilt anything larger than a placemat or a table runner.

Thanks for the information!

The extension are really not a lot of good if you are doing a whole big
quilt imo. They might help for a class
away from home but not so much for a lot of work. Report back if you get a
good fix? This is supposed to be
fun!
