We're doing that at work. A fellow employee suffered the loss of his home
and every thing he owned two nights ago when his house burned to the ground.
He has a wife and two children under the age of 4. Instead of exchanging
gifts in all the various departments, we are donating what we would have
spent on the gifts to him and his family. Plus we have a "giving tree" in
our lobby. You pick an ornament and it contains a list of things for one
particular family. Its a special way to celebrate the holiday.
