Default Eyes need help

I'm making a black and white quilt for a Christmas gift. The design is free
form patchwork on a 6" foundation of Pellon. No problem with cutting or sewing
but when I turn the block over to trim to 6.25, I can't see the Pellon through
the ruler if the last patch is light colored.

I don't want to stick dark pieces on each end just so I can see the foundation
as that would make it too regular but I'm going blind trying to see white on
white. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Can you draw along the edge of the pellon with a wash-away marker that
would show?

I can try that. I suppose it doesn't matter if it shows on the back as that
will be covered with batting and backing. If I use a black line, it should just
blend with the fabric on front. I'll try it. Thanks.
