The technique derives its name from the table of the gemstone being level or "flush with" the surrounding metal. This style of setting is also known as burnish setting, rub-over, or gypsy setting. It has become quite popular with contemporary jewelry designers and is a practical and efficient approach for adding gemstones to your jewelry designs. In this class we will focus on the flush setting application for small round stones. We will be covering the process of =B7 laying out stones on flat and curved surfaces =B7 drilling and enlarging holes =B7 using a variety of burs to cut seats =B7 setting round stones =B7 tightening and burnishing settings =B7 making burnishers for diamonds and colored stones Experience level: Students should have familiarity with using the flex shaft. Prior stone setting experience, although not mandatory, will be helpful.
