Thes latest ones I've seen is "My Labrador is smarter than your honour
student" (since then I've seen other dogs mentioned). Being both a dog
owner and a parent of honour students, neither of which I announce on bumper
stickers, I find it funny, but I'm sure there are some who don't.

There are times I'd love to get the sign I've seen around:
"Mother-in-Law in Trunk" (evil grin)

I wanted that one, but, then she would always be with me! Horrors!!
Better one now "Mother-in-law in Assisted Living"!!!! FREE.

Actually over dinner DH announced he would like to take off at the end
of July (instead of Sept 1,) returning end of October!! I shall have to
work out what needs to be done on this end, but what the heck, we are
only "young"ish once!!

Dawne i agree with you that Watergate left many families with a great
feeling of having lost a ideologie ,,, The 20th century Has seen many
crumbling ideological Tragedies. Some left a lot of Chaos and real
Dammge in Lost lives and Material loss , and some left `only` people
with a great pain in the herats and feeling they wasted some years of
their lives working in the wrong direction. At the same time New
ideologies rose [like Feminism Political correctness etc...]
And Watergate was not without its own personal tragedies-- those loyal
wives and families who had to stand by some fairly despicable men (not
death, but a kind of personal hell),

Yes they were in personal hell , but their kids saw them , knew them
and they lived .
We have known here many believers in Cumunism . socialism, so eager
and believing that in 50s whole Kiboetziem , divivded into 2 ,,
Families parted anfd divorced . Barbed wire in the middle of the
Communal Dinning hall etc....People were Bitter, Angry , hurt, The
Mental `fire` went away after some years, some Kieboetziem , reunited,
Nobody seems to think about what happened than anymore , But those who
lost Dear ones In any event , Do Remember , and their lives altered in
a different manner.

those genuine idealists (there used to
be more than a few) who supported political parties because they believed,
and got to see the dirty tricks their "heroes" used....

I remember one that said "Ex-Husband In Trunk", and then it actually came
with a tie you could shut in the trunk lid so it was hanging out - thereby
making it look like you actually shoved a man in the trunk, but his tie
didn't quite make it.

The other signs that REALLY irritate me are the ones in cars. "Baby on
Board". So? And "Show horses/dogs/cats on board".

True--not disagreeing with you at all. My only point was that an event that
is a "political development" to those who follow politics or history can be
personally devastating to those whose lives, through no fault of their own,
are part of it. Being Richard Nixon's wife or daughters, or Bill Clinton's
daughter for that matter, must have been terribly difficult at the time of
their respective scandals, and in North America, the press gives such
people little privacy to deal with their painful emotions. A disillusioned
"true believer" is one thing--a child seeing that their father is not what
he claimed and having their hurt splashed in colour across the papers
suffers something different and more lasting.
It is not the same as losing those you love. Nothing is. But it is the
kind of individual suffering that is easy to forget, and even to play a
part in by encouraging the kind of journalism that contributes to it.

There are lots of important events in history that don't have body
counts associated with them, something most people are glad about.

G. Gordon Liddy has been really open about how his jail time affected
his family. He has a radio talk show in DC, and while I frequently
don't agree with his ideologies, I find him very interesting to listen
to. Unlike folks like Bill O'Reilly, he's willing to listen to callers
with opposing views and talk to them intelligently. As opposed to
Bill's method of shouting at them about how wrong they are, but never
actually listening to what they say.

It's sad that politics makes people sink so low, stealing, lying and
such.

Do they have anything similar for Golden Retrievers?

My two very blond, very male, idiot dogs took off for three hours
yesterday, came back brown/black with mud. Hosed them off for 10 mins
and they are still not as blond as they should be today.

I don`t think it is politics that makes people sink so law as to steal
cheat etc.... it is a basic tendency+ life happenings opportunity ,
abilty ,, politics does nothing , it`s the people who use politics
power or lust for the power that does it ...

(chuckle) Among the various dogs we had when I was growing up (we had
a lot of cats, too) was a Lab. Very sweet girl, but definitely not
smart. When my father would take her duck hunting, someone had to sit
on her in the boat or she'd retrieve the decoys. :-)
