Default Making Napkins?

What would be a good, simple way to make/hem a napkin using a machine with
basic stitches.

The material is pseudo-suede and relatively stable.

Thanks Polly. This sounds like it could be interesting.

Do you have enough of the "almost" suede to make a practice piece? Just a

6"
square might be plenty. It could be that turning up just one time with the
suede is all that you must do. It probably will not ravel. If it is a very
fine grade of ultrasuade, you really don't need to turn it up even once

but
stitching around, even with just a straight stitch, will lend some

stability
and look nice.
However - some suedes stretch a little on the width-wise cut so your
tension and pressure may need some adjusting. Bulk could be a problem at

the
corners and you may need to cut a tiny square or triangle away at each
corner before stitching. If I ever, ever get to the point, here it is.
Practice with your sample square until you get a result that makes you
smile. Smiling is a good thing. Polly

Is the fabric woven or a knit -- that can make a difference.

Regardless of
fabric type, if you have a hem stitch on your machine -- one that looks

like
this __/\__/\__ -- you can simply use that stitch along the very edge of

the
fabric. No need to turn under a hem at all just make sure that the ___

part of
the stitch is on the fabric and the /\ part of the stitch extends *past*

the
cut fabric edge. CiaoMeow ^;;^
