Help with berry pattern/stitch
Hi everyone,
I sure hope someone can help me. I'm knitting this sweater http://garnstudio.com/lang/en/visopp..._id=28&lang=us and have knit the body of the sweater and the sleeves. Now I'm ready to knit the yoke, and will put the sleeves in place and work it all at once. My problem is the berry pattern. I am totally confused as to how to do the: work 3 sts in 1 st as follows: P1, 1 YO, P1 and the P3, lift first st over third st and lift second st over third st = 1 st left Do you think I'm going to have to make a trip into my LYS? Thanks for any help you can give...Linda D. in B.C., Canada |

I am totally confused as to how to do the: work 3 sts in 1 st as follows: P1, 1 YO, P1 P1, YO, P1 is making two stitches in one, and means just what it says. In the next stitch purl 1, YO, purl 1, an increase of two stitches. and the P3, lift first st over third st and lift second st over third st = 1 st left Purl the next 3 stitches, looking at the P3 on the right needle from left to right, insert the tip of the left needle into the first purl. That is the one fartherest from the tip of the needle With the tip of the left needle, lift this stitch (1) over the last stitch on the right needle (3), do the same thing with the remaining stitch (2) | | | 321 You have just decreased to two stitches you added with the p1, yo, p1. This video shows how to lift the stitches, but instead lifting two at one time, you will only be lifting one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS61zFsp2bk DA |

Help with berry pattern/stitch
The only advice I would add to that of DA is to take a separate pair
of needles and ball of yarn and make a test swatch of the new stitch. |

I did have a "light bulb" moment yesterday afternoon, and set up a test swatch, like Mary suggested. I cast on 36 stitches just like the chart shows for the pattern repeat, which included the pattern repeat on the chart, plus 12 stitches for the garter stitch border on the two fronts. Somehow or another I lost 2 stitches, so have pulled that out and will try again today. This is such a great group! thanks again...Linda D. in B.C., Canada |

Garn studio has some very nice patterns, but they seem to loose something in the translation. Having charts does make it easier to figure out what they mean. DA |

Help with berry pattern/stitch
For years I did not do this until Noreen talked to me about how important it was. *I had to rework every pattern for my family friends every time I make that a hat, socks, sweater or what ever. *Even so I was using the same pattern. We do have a great sight here Mirjam, don't we. I am glad Dennis that Noreen convinced you to do it ? By the way anyone heard from her lately ????? having my copybooks has saved me hours of work later ,as well as having a Measure -paper for ideas ,,,, Yes this is a great site Dennis ... mirjam |

I think I must have just purled into the stitch instead of P1, YO, P1 into the same stitch, so lost 2 stitches. Sunday, I set up a new sample, and have the pattern worked out...so simple when you know how thanks, Linda D. in B.C., Canada |
