Most interesting and thank you for sharing. I am interested to find a silk
that will snap less. There are stronger and weaker ones and in my estimation, I will find it! I only plan on doing one silk painting here. |

I WISH I could explain how the woman made her twisted silk -- if you could do that, you could just buy the stranded and then make your own twist when you needed it!! And this is why I have the entire set of stranded Eterna - I know how to twist it (thanks to a Japanese Embroidery class) and can use it either way. I plan to try it on my next Jap. Emb. project - it would sure be cheaper than buying the real thread! |

Gracious; how much does the entire set cost? I have my eyes closed now.

Here's the prices from http://www.vintagevogue.com/onlinestore/cat39_1.htm
Mini Twist = 545 colors @ $0.75 each = $408.75 Mini Twist Overdyed = 140 colors @ $1.50 each = $210.00 Stranded = 545 colors @ $0.85 each = $463.25 Stranded Overdyed = 140 colors @ $1.70 each = $238 There is also the silk twist but it comes in fewer colors. I'm sure other stores are selling it for different prices but this listing seems to be the low end of MSRP. I got in on the introductory offer several years ago where I could buy the original 450 colors direct from Yodamo for $100. Talk about a steal! I got that offer also, it was in June 1999.
I remember it well because I was visiting my email friend in New Jersey who I met through this group. Wow! Why was it so cheap? Was the company new?

Yes, that's the reason. The company was new and it was an
introductory offer. I got the set of stranded then, too, and almost cried when the colors came because they were so beautiful. I had never thought I would be able to afford an entire set of silk threads. Susan (BDS2pds) wrote in message ... Wow! Why was it so cheap? Was the company new?
