Default Ebay virgin seeks advice

Sometimes I make more beads than I can make jewelry out of. I have realized
that I don't have the mental energy for both making beads and managing
auctions, So, I was thinking of letting my daughter (in a different city,
same state) do all the dealing with eBay, and keep the money, with me
supplying the images and text to her. She would collect (and keep) the
money; I would ship the beads. She would, in effect, be the licensed seller
for my "designer" beads. Would this work? This is a sample of the sort of
beadsets I would have, with prices that I think are fair market value.

http://bead-designs.com/html/beads.htm

I'm sure there are lots of things I haven't thought about, so I'm eager for
advice and/or suggestions from all quarters. One question would involve
pricing. Assuming I can set a reasonable minimum bid I will accept, is there
something magical about the $.99 opening bids I see? Does it take a long
time for new sellers to get noticed by bidders?

Thanks for anything you can help me with!

Hi Georgia,

I always look for PC on Just Beads. I could be doing things wrong, but it
looks to me like you can't get a category for PC only on eBay. I also think
you'll find recognition there more easily.

$.99 auctions? What if that's all you get? I think you should ask for the
least you find (marginally) acceptable. Or your lowest acceptable
wholesale. I guess to me it's part of being honest to price in an accurate
range.

Are you going to sell some calla lilies?

First, do you need another daughter? I have lots of surrogate mothers but
I'll take on one more.

Seriously, your idea is sound. I think it will work well. Does your
daughter already have an existing eBay id? If not, then start out slowly
and get her feedback ratings up.

Then you should post her auctions here with an 'AD' in the front. That way
we'll see your beads too so we can bid.

Hmm. Just Beads could be an option. I'll have to find out if they let you
have a "reserve" price different from your minimum bid.

Hadn't thought about the calla lilies, but why not?

Thanks for responding, Tina--I was beginning to think my post had got
filtered out of everyone's reader because it had the word v***in in it!

Thanks, Starlia!

"Start out slowly" means only offer a few items at a time? DD has bought
things on eBay but I don't think she's sold anything.

When we get this under way, I will certainly post AD notices here to let you
guys know what's up.

A few ads at a time and keep them up at all times even though they might not
be all ending at the same time. Presence does make a difference.

Definitely post your auctions and let us see your creations.

A lot of people don't like reserve auctions. I know I see "reserve" and
immediately go to the next auction.

Hmm. Just Beads could be an option. I'll have to find out if they let you
have a "reserve" price different from your minimum bid.

Thanks, that's good to know. I really am an eBay novice--never placed a bid
even.

That's right. Get the number of feed back up by offering inexpensive pairs
or trios, or earrings that can sell fast.
