Well, after the discussion of frugality on the other thread, I feel a
little bit guilty about the amount of money I spent yesterday at the
yarn shop. However, in my own defense, I do most of my shopping online
because I don't have a shop handy AND I was having a very emotional day
AND I was delivering a good batch of finished projects to a nursing
home, so I needed something new, right? Okay, enough justifications.

I got wool and a matching specialty yarn in 3 colors for hats, three
pairs of circular needles, a book on knitting socks with "The Magic
Loop" (anyone tried it?), a slippers kit with soles and a really fun
variegated wool, and a super-cute freebie slipper pattern.

I knit up one hat when I got home last night, and today I think I'll do
another.

Sounds wonderful Joy! I don't think you ever need to justify buying
yarn/fibre, etc etc. After all, these hobbies of ours help to keep us sane.

If knitting socks using one circular is the same as the "Magic loop"
then yes, I've done it and I love it! much faster, much easier to
control - even better than on two circulars, IMO.
