Hi Aud,

You asked Els about the history of Birkeland Bros., are they Norwegian? I
don't know myself, but I did ask when I was at the shop how long they'd been
open - since 1933 I think the woman said - some time in the 1930s. Their
website is www.birkelandwool.net if you want to check it out.

David, I did go and visit their website again, they have renewed it since
I was there last. They have a video of their carding machine. I watched
it and now have to laugh at my very simple explanation of this machine....
.. There are many more rollers or drums, on the machine shown in the
video, than I stated in my posting. They are over a meter long. We are
talking about an industrial carding machine here. It looks very very
large.

The history page on www.birkelandwool.net confirms that they are from
Norway. I wish I would have known about them when I was in Vancouver last
summer.

Keep us posted on what you are going to get from them. Naturally when I
have been in the store I pay with Canandian dollars. For some odd reason,
very often when you order via the internet, no matter where, you pay with
American dollars.

Ask and they will tell you Wooly

Hi Jan,

Well, there's always a next time. Although at the moment some areas of
Vancouver require more busses to go from place to place due to Olympics
construction around the city.
