Update. Last week I posted that the DK-9 gave me five FQ. Well, I
later cut the little ribbons and unfolded the fabric. Those were
five 1/2 yard pieces of batik! What a good Black Lab!

We didn't have our family gatherings until this past
weekend. DH's family on Saturday and my family yesterday.
My DD came through, she gave me a huge bundle of FQs and a
lovely book, America's Glorious Quilts.

I am sure you could fashion some kind of cup holder attached to the main
column in the lamp... )

I got the fancy floor lamp from Keepsake Quilting's catlog with the tray &
clip & magnifying lense. The light is great. I was so used to lots of heat
from the multi-bulb floor lamp I used; this is cccoooooolllll no matter how
close I am.

The only drawback.. there's no place for my coffee mug :-)

My children bought me a Brother CS-8060, just like I told them to, and DH
got me the cutting table @ Joann's when it was on sale for $59.99 the last 4
days before Christmas. Life is good, and my back & dining room table are
very happy.

Me too! My MIL gave me her old Sears Kenmore!!

It was a last minute thing. DH has been trying to convince me to get
a machine so I can play more, but I haven't wanted to put the money
down on even a new used something that I would also have to service
and such b/c I don't know anything about SMs. ... And MIL, used to
make all her and kids clothes but hasn't used it in 5-10 years now.
So we packed it up, put it in the overhead and took it home!

Today we brought it to the SM repair place to have the bobbin loosened
and the rest of the machine inspected. I have no idea what model it
was, but the owner of the shop said it was a sop of the line machine
when it came out (probably 35 years ago). It cost $78!! It seemed
high for the service, but we only know of one shop in town, and it's
still much less than a new/ new/ used machine.

Now I just have to figure out how to use it!

Merry christmas and happy new year!

Well I have stolen my husbands computer from him for a sec while I
look up some quilting sites and just stopped in here...first time.
How many of you got new sewing machines etc., for Christmas?
I was really lucky but now I have to use them.
