Default FL folks - check in and further hurricane prep

Here's a lurker checking in from near Tallahassee. Jefferson county
actually, where we got only 7 inches of rain and some tropical force winds.
Our power went out Sunday around 3:30 when a neighbor's oak tree blew over.
We got power back around 8 something on Sunday night, then it went out again
around 11 pm that night and stayed out until after 8 p.m. on Monday night.
We lost everything in the fridge and little freezer. Luckily, the deep
freeze was packed full and tight and I had put it on the coldest setting on
Friday. About 1000 customers still without power here in Jefferson county
last thing I heard. Weird, but the neighbor 2 doors down still doesn't have
power.

Good news is that I did get some stitching done on Monday afternoon while
sitting by the window. After the power came back on, we started making jam
out of all the frozen fruit in the deep freeze. If (heaven forbid) we get
another storm and the power is out for a longer period of time, we don't
want to lose all the blueberries, strawberries and peaches.

I have been trying to email you at the address shown, removing the "remove
this" and it keeps bouncing back.

My email is gillmurray1 at verizon.net if you want to email me.

Last I heard, they were predicting Ivan to follow the same path. Just the
"cheery news" you wanted to hear, huh?

If sailors yell "Land ho!", does that mean we should now be pointing out to sea
and yelling "Ivan ho!"

Having just come through Frances, don't you think we should be saying "Ivan
GO!"

Spew warning, please! I wonder if NE Ohio will see rain from Ivan. We
got about 3" from Frances. I know that is nothing compared to all y'all
down south, but we've had flooding all spring and summer and really
didn't need more.
