Default Mardi Gras Beads?

I recently ended up acquiring a stash of old costume jewelry. Mixed in
amoung the plastic beads and tarnished chains, there is a ton of various
color/size/shape Mardi Gras style beads, the kind that are molded onto the
string. My question--aside from cutting the string and making a whacky bead
curtain out of all of them, is there any other use or market for these?

TIA

Lois

Hi, Lois. I've purchased Vintage Mardi Gras beads on eBay before.
Although the beads I purchased were faceted Czech glass, there were
also many necklaces listed that were made of plastic, starting at,
say... $3-4-5.00 or so. Why don't you give eBay a try?

I had so many, I cut them and glued them around an old lampshade. Now I have
a very interesting "gypsy" lamp.

You can cut them up and use them for decorated picture frames, interesting
homemade greeting cards, glue them onto to wrapped presents, make collages,
with enough filler you could make a kids' mosaic table top, they could be
curtain ties for shower curtains....

There are lots of ways to use them

Hi, Linda! Good to "see" you again. Thanks for the info. I'm going to
look through them again with an eye to the other suggestions in this thread,
and if nothing inspires me then, they may be destined for Ebay.

Great idea, but I don't think there's enough matching/complementing colors
for this to work. Of course, mixing all those colors together would be
something my DD would probably love........sometimes, there's no accounting
for the tastes of teenagers! G

Well, now I'm having a "duh" moment! Just today, I redid my kitchen windows
so I could see all my suncatchers, but realized that the curtains now need
tiebacks. Guess where at least a couple of those strands are going to end
up? Thanks!

I draped mine across the top rail of my canopy bed.

That canopy rail is very handy....I also have my dremel tool hanging from it so
I can sit on the bed when I clean beads.

Ok only a bead addict would say that! LOL! Who else has a Dremel hanging by
their beds? Oh, and by the way, I have one by the bed too. LOL!
