RCTYers,

We are crazy.
I bet I'm not the only "reader" whose face is creased with permanent

The joy that doll/character brought to the world!! That's the real reason
he got banned!!!!

Kari,
I'll bet you're right, on ALL counts!

I'm sure you are right, Kari!!
That MUST be the reason!
(laughter and joy is sort of disturbing, isn't it???LOL!)

AND I have brooded over this too:
-IF the Golliwog is a caricature of black people
and therefore banned...
-WHY isn't Barbie banned, she is a caricature of women,
I can see it, CLEARLY in my mirror....!
AUD ;-)))

LOL!! I'm sorry, that reminded me irresistibly of a scene in the later
Dick van Dyke show, the one where Fannie Flagg played Dick's sister.
Their mother (Mabel Albertson, I think) was very taken aback to meet
her grandson's black girlfriend, but tried to be polite and got very
mixed up between Diana Ross (the Supremes), Dionne Warwick (another
singer), and Diahann Carroll -- who also sang but was later known for
her role as Julia, the nurse, the first black star (not regular but
actual star) of a TV show. (Lloyd Nolan played the gruff dr Julia
worked for.)

Yes! We are all 6 foot 2 inches tall, we all have measurements of
38-21-34, right? (that's the figures I read when someone sized Barbie as a
human) Oh yes, and we're all blonde and blueeyed too.
yaaaaah riiiiiiight.
LOL,
Noreen
