Silver Wire - Help for a Novice?
Hello all!
From reading the group, I know some of you make your own findings. I'm thinking of purchasing sterling silver wire to do the same. It looks like 20 gauge wire will work best for my purposes, but I've hit a wall when faced with the delima of dead soft, full hard, and half hard (I hear the jokes already...go ahead). What do you recommend for wire wrapping, s-clasps and eyepins? -- Beth http://workerbead.home.att.net |

Hi Beth,
I always work with half hard. It semms to be the most versatile. You can hammer it for strength when making findings. KathyH "Beth IA" wrote in message hlink.net... Hello all! Hi Beth,
I work with Half Hard wire, for findings I typically use 18g for clasps and such, and then 20-22g for earring wires. Feel free to email me if you have any questions Hugs, Lynda http://www.thebeadgoddess.com "Beth IA" wrote in message hlink.net... Hello all! Half hard is my preference (except maybe dead soft for wrapping). Dead soft
wire can get crinkled/bent easily and then be hard to straighten nicely again. I prefer 18 ga for hooks. Don't forget you'll need to hammer it to harden it so the hooks won't unbend.
