Default source for mountain mahogany??

when i used to carve a lot...instead of a little; i tried some mountain
mahogany and loved it. But i haven't found a source for it.
does anyone know where i can buy it?
it turns out that there are several wood species with the same
name...different trees however. the one i carved before was from
the Salmon River in Idaho. Does anyone know anything about the carving
qualities of the other species?
I intend to lathe an ink pen from it and then carve the desk holder from it
as well.
thanks for your help,
rich
